Deck the Halls This Season with Fun Winter Activities

The winter months are highly anticipated by many people, and one reason for this is the holiday cheer brought by winter activities. To help you make the most of the holiday season, we’ve rounded up some of the most festive activities to partake in this holiday season.

If New Jersey is lucky enough to receive snow this winter, bundle up and head outside with your friends and family, as snow gives opportunities to make new memories. From participating in intense snowball fights with picturesque snow forts to making sculptures, possibilities are endless. Also, there’s nothing better than going sledding and feeling free, while cutting through the winter air. Or, consider skiing or snowboarding. Though there’s some debate about which is better, both are great to enjoy as the weather turns frosty. Lastly, ice skating is another great choice for an activity. Though you might trip and fall sometimes, ice skating teaches perseverance while also being fun.

If New Jersey doesn’t get any snow this winter, there are still countless activities for friends and families to do together.

First, you can organize a Secret Santa. Secret Santa is a great way to give thoughtful gifts to your loved ones. Everyone in the Secret Santa group can decide on a price limit, so the giving won’t be too expensive. Another option for a group of people is to host a White Elephant Exchange. In White Elephant, each person brings one wrapped gift to a common pool. Then, each person draws a number to determine the order in which the group will choose gifts. Every person following the first can choose to pick from the pool or steal a previous person’s unwrapped gift. White Elephant can be a fun way to celebrate the holidays with loved ones.

Another great way to get into the holiday spirit is by eating holiday-related foods. You can even go the extra step and bake these foods yourself. Decorating gingerbread houses and gobbling down gingerbread cookies can be a great way to celebrate winter holidays. Other baked goods to enjoy during this time can include cookies, peppermint bark, cheesecake, fudge, pie, and so many more. To accompany these foods, you can also sip on some homemade hot cocoa.

Next, you can make a playlist of holiday tunes. Add songs like “Frosty the Snowman,” “Jingle Bells,” “Jingle Bell Rock,” “Santa Baby,” and “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year.” Listening to holiday songs while hanging out with your friends and family will add the final touch to the perfect holiday experience.

Turn on some of your favorite holiday classics, too! Some classic movie recommendations are “The Grinch,” “Elf,” and “Home Alone.”

Sure, winter in New Jersey can be cold and dark, but there’s still plenty of fun to be had this winter whether you prefer to brave the cold or to cozy up in your house in your favorite holiday pajamas.
